And away we go!!!!

Greetings All !!!

Welcome to my 40k Praetorian Imperial Guard blog. I've just spent the last 6 months selling off my 40k armies to finance my stupid insanity of wanting to buy a large Praetorian force.

Over the coming months I will post in this blog all about the Praetorian Guard, and my efforts to assembly, paint and field my Praetorians to victory!!

FOR THE EMPEROR!!!

Now the fun begins!!

My local GW is having a 40k Doubles Tournament on the 30th October and a mate and I are going to enter.

1000 points each team member - I'm going Praetorians (of course!!) and my mate is tossing up between Eldar and Plague Marines.

I'll post my list up shortly - I'm going for a assault style of list.

This is my favorite model to date. I use him for my commissar and lord commissar as I am yet to paint the official lord commissar model. I love the power fist and it always seems to fit in well with the ogyrns. The colours are still a little flat - over time as my skill has increased I've been able to add some realistic highlights and shading, and while I'm happier with the paint job, I know it still needs to be better.

I don't care what anyone says, I just love ogyrns!! I know some guard players think they are a waste of points, but I just love watching opponents faces when five of them rock out of a transport with a lord commissar - they always manage to cause some damage!!

The ogyrn on the right is my old cadian paint scheme and the one on the left has had a costume change to bring him into line with the praetorians. I've always been quite proud of these models paint job.

Time for some picts II

A couple of Pict's of my first trooper. I've gone with a very standard colour scheme. Actually this model is a repaint as I bought it painted a while ago. I'm reasonably happy with the model, though I'll still need to do some highlighting etc, but I wanted to make sure I was happy with the basic colours. Still can't decide if I like the blue cuffs or prefer the tunic all in red.

Time for some picts!!

I think I need to be clear, I paint to play rather than the other way around!! While I do actually enjoy painting, I certainly don't enjoy it as much as playing an actual game. And I'm very aware that I paint to a basic level only. (One of the problems with not having an artistic bone in my body!!) Above is the first try of my tank colour scheme for the army. I've really thought on this long and hard, and have done a number of test cards, but I feel the desert look suits the Praetorian colours.

I'm Back!!

With the birth of my new baby girl Lucy and the fact I have been promoted at work - I have had to put aside my 40k for a while, but hopefully I'll be able to get back in the swing shortly.

My mate and I want to enter into a doubles tournment at the local GW and we would both rather I play IG.

As it's in a couple of weeks I need to decide if I can get a Preatorian army out in time or do I need to revert back to my old IG models for the tourney. Either way I would rather play IG so I can get some more game experience.... but time is going to be the factor.
